Alexa Banks is a girl recently out of high school, with no way going forward. She lives with her mom, Aretha Banks, in Johannesburg and her dad passed away when she was just 15-yeard-old. She has two friends: John and Palesa. They both have had a crush on the other since the first grade but both of them too afraid to ruin the friendship. Alexa has noticed this, but she'd rather not meddle. Palesa and John come up with an idea to for Alexa to make money. She doesn't agree and thinks it's a bad idea.
