In one of my classes we were given a sentence to start or end a story that was 100-200 words long . The first prompt is using the following sentence as the first line:  Five a.m. and still no phone call. The second prompt was use the following sentence as an ending:  As I opened the card, I realized I had made a terrible mistake. The third prompt was to write: Someone does something extreme to return a borrowed item from many years ago.
