The story begins at the end of season 6 of The Vampire Diaries. Damon left Bonnie to die at the hands of Kai to revive Elena, but little did he know that Kai healed her and gave her a chance to run so he can taunt Damon.

 NB : Klaus is dealing with Lucien, Hayley married Jackson and he's alive, Kol is dead and Rebekah is out of town.
