Criminal Justice
Tom Brennan does not like to be told what to do and what not to do. His demeanour quickly changes with a phone call from Bill Hilliard, the Director of The Central Intelligence Agency, convinces Tom to accept a new assignment that will take him to the corners of Spain and Morocco.
The elusive pursuit quickly plunges Tom into a world of suspense, mistrust and revenge. Sleepless nights are filled with disturbing dreams. Tom’s determination to bring the group down starts to unravel when he enlists his old friend Sergio Estevez, a local Basque leader, who infiltrates the terrorist’s network and will finally get revenge for the killing of his daughter and father who were travelling.
With the yacht Esmeralda prepared to sail across the Mediterranean Sea to Morocco for a high level strategy meeting, Tom devises a plan that would catch everyone onboard unprepared. The explosion is mistaken for fireworks gone array from a local festival. A lone survivor clutching onto a piece of floating debris, exerts all his energy to swim ashore, where he lays exhausted, until the cold waves brushing up the beach against his feet stir him out of unconsciousness and to crawl up the beach. The survivor unwittingly leads Tom to the terrorist’s network in Morocco, where he discovers an organization with strong ties to government, university educators, and the business world.
Tom is surprised when an unexpected package is delivered to his hotel room.
“Samil welcomes you to the Canary Islands,” the delivery man spoke with an Arabic accent as he handed over a package. Upon hearing the name Samil, Tom’s impulse reaction was immediate. His misguided trust of Samil, who he thought was a repentant insurgent looking to escape from a repressive regime, was responsible for almost killing him at a most inopportune time. It was at this moment that Tom realized – the code of ‘criminal justice’ had caught him off guard.
