Tommy was orphaned at a very young age, he had many foster families but was never adopted. When he was 14 he lost hope of getting adopted ever.
When he turned 16 he was 'adopted' by Schlatt Co. He was made to be basically a human sacrifice for the better teams of ghost hunters for their facility. The team he was assigned to? Only the best, SBI.
