He smiled warmly up at her, tears spilling over. "I'm sorry," he choked out, and he really was. The last thing he wanted was to leave Six all by herself. He knew loneliness all too well. But at least, this way, she would be able to live her life, far away from the cruelties that threatened them every minute as they had gotten closer to the Signal Tower. After the Signal Man had taken her, he devoted himself to getting her back no matter the cost. There was no price too big to pay. He would give up everything for her.
Alternatively: If given the choice, Mono would totally sacrifice himself to save Six, if the circumstances were set up that way. Basically, the ending of Little Nightmares 2, but slightly different. The real ending broke me, and was nothing but angst, so here's angst with a happy ending. Beware of spoilers.
Also, the mass of flesh and eyeballs is officially called the Squirming Abyss, so I will be referring to it as such.

Four Little Nightmares
Mono is doomed to a time loop after being betrayed by Six, and everyone thought that was where his story ends. But after encountering his younger self, Mono realizes that he's not quite ready to give up and is determined to find the Six that betrayed him from his timeline. Intent on revenge, he travels the Maw where he meets another boy named Seven, who was eaten by Six. Both are ready to confront the one who hurt them, but what if that ends up being harder than they expected? And not only that, but what if the Raincoat Girl survived the fall back at the Nest, and what if she and Six found each other again? A story based on revenge ends up being an adventure full of hard decisions, new friends, and uncaging the truth about what happened to their world. Mono never thought he'd work together with Six again, but will a new threat, the "Happy Man", change his mind and force the four characters to team up? Or will grudges and past traumas turn their lives into a nightmare? Characters are all 14 except for Six who is 13. They act more mature than regular kids cuz they've been through hell so, but they still have normal childish tendencies. Also uploaded on AO3 under the name AverageArchiver1.
