Magic is corrupt. It took Kat's brother away. She wants nothing more than to bring down the High Lord and his defenders who are trying to wipe out the human bloodline.
Zade, a boy with magic, saves Kat from a risky night of failing to free a pod full of her people. He finds out that Kat also wants the same thing as him. To take down the High Lord and together they join forces.
Who knows, maybe Zade will show Kat that there is light in the darkness. That magic can bring about hope... or maybe he will bring the villain out of her and unleash a vigilante more deadly than the High Lord is capable of handling.
