Elizabeth Davis, daughter of renowned paranormal researchers Sophie and Edward Davis, and younger sister of the up-and-coming investigator Sarah Davis, was expected to do great things in the world of the paranormal. But things do not always turn out the way we want. Everything changed when on her 13th birthday, Elizabeth's mother, Sophie, disappeared in the middle of an investigation in England, halfway across the world from her home in New York City. Cursed with an almost exact likeness of her mother's fiery red hair and overly protective family, Elizabeth's plans of becoming a fellow investigator were abruptly finished.
