The Raider

Nobody ever wants to become a raider, despite the legendary status that comes with the title.

After all, there are only two possible endings for a raider. They die or they survive, but even survival has its consequences. The Tribal Leaders demand that one person in each family volunteer to be a raider (unless, of course, said family happened to be rich). Without raiders, Ascella's forest tribe would have perished long ago.

Ascella was given two choices when the last of her family was killed by the Kinid . She was to marry into a family that already had someone in service or become a raider. That was eight years ago.

Some said she became a raider to protect her family property. Some said it was because she did not wish to marry. They were all wrong.

Years ago, her father and brother had both been forced into service when they spoke out against the Tribal Leaders. Ascella wanted vengeance, against the Tribal Leaders and the Kinid, so she sought to create a third ending-revolution.
