At 16 years old, Aang is living in a time of relative peace. Of course, there was the occasional instance of Ozai Loyalists making themselves heard, or a reparations dispute between nations, but for the most part, the world was at peace. Aang decided that this general tranquility was the perfect environment to finally propose to Katara, however even after she said yes and things seemed to be going okay, an aura of danger loomed around them, awaiting the perfect time to strike.
