The world lay in destruction.
After what scientists believed to be the end of the world, cities lay in ruins, forests burned to the ground, and billions of people are dead.
But now, 100 years later, the skeleton of the world is slowly healing back together.

The organization that first predicted 'The Ending' has created a serum which gives humans supernatural abilities. But this serum only works for a certain percentage of the population. And so, every 16 year old is obligated to take The Test to join one of The Elite.

Cadence Windsor is now 16 years old, as of last week. And the test she is about to take will change her life more than she could ever imagine.

{COMPLETED} "now that you've had your fun electrocuting me, would you care to hop in the backseat?" ---------------------------------------------------------- Freak DNA. That's what I like to call it. The fault to my genetic code. More often than not, it's a curse. The static running through my blood gave me a name. A cruel, daunting label of a measly bug. A roach. That's what I am to them, to the government. Roach; the nameless monster with electricity for a sense and lightening as a second nature. It ruined my life, the sparking currents playing tag in my mind, running around and bumping into everything, shaking me loose. The government, actually. They ruined my life. My curse just gave them a reason. You see, the normal population with ordinary DNA, they don't know about the people like me. The roaches of the world. We don't get that kind of recognition at the camps. There, we are only one thing in the military's eyes. We are weapons and we will act like it. Everyone else out there, bathing in the goodness they don't know they've got, they don't know about the roaches their stepping on. As long as their getting closer to the sky, they don't care what they stand on to reach it. They don't know about the sparkling dreamer that's killed 7 people before her 17th birthday. They don't about the ghost of a girl peaking around corners for her entire life because even home wasn't safe. They don't know about the fighter of steel and iron sucking on his bloody lip courtesy of the wars he battles in as nothing but a shadow. They don't know about the masked villain who would do anything to see the army they lead claim the throne They don't know about us. But they will, because we will rise. And when we arrive, we will arrive violently. ___________________________________________ Started: 10.06.15 Finished: 3.17.16
We Were Stardust Once de rrrick_grimesss
27 partes Continúa
They were born from the stars, but the world refuses to let them stay. It has been three years since the Genesis Flares, the solar phenomenon that gave birth to Astrans: beings with abilities beyond human comprehension. Some see them as miracles, others as abominations but to those in power, they are a threat that must be controlled, exploited, or eradicated. Fear spreads like wildfire, and war is inevitable. Among the displaced and the hunted, a survivor fights to carve out a future for her people, refusing to let them be erased from history. By her side stands the one who saved her, a sister in all but blood, a friend who has vowed to protect her, even if it means keeping dangerous secrets. As alliances fracture and loyalties are tested, they must navigate a world that has already decided what they are: enemies. In the heart of the conflict, two minds once dedicated to progress now wrestle with the weight of their own creations. One, a scientist bound by failing health, seeks to undo the greatest mistake of his life before time runs out. The other, an engineer thrust unwillingly into war, struggles between duty, regret, and the burden of being the only one left to fight. Lines blur between vengeance and justice, survival and sacrifice. The choices they make will determine not only the outcome of the war but the future of the Astrans themselves. Before the war, before the fear, they were all the same. They were all stardust once.

10 years into the future four sisters discover they have unusual super powers. While reading the journals of their recently deceased mother she supernaturally speaks to them from the past. (Mary died suddenly due to a newly released hyper-virus by The Powers That Be.) The young women discover not only had their mother been quenching their powers since they were babies but through her journals is now urging them to to do the exact opposite. "Rise up! *You were born for such a time as this." However the recent abandonment by their mother in death and their father in grief has left them struggling as they've been thrust into adulthood overnight. The world desperately needs them. Will they stop bickering and worrying about boys, fashion and proms long enough to save the day? *Esther 4:4 Gifts: Baby in the corner Beth (19) has the ability to draw her heart's desires. She thinks it's only while using her big box of 64 crayons. She doesn't realize the power is in her mind's eye and not her writing implements. Jo (20) can teleport. Of course she doesn't always stick her landings. At first her landings are as messy as is her life. She's lost her mother, her family home, her faith and now thinks she may be losing her mind. Supercilious self-absorbed Amy (17) has the uncanny ability to get others to do what she wants. She says, ever so sweetly, "I'd prefer..." Dad always called it "wrapping others around her little finger syndrome." If she wanted she could ask a perfect stranger to hand over his car keys and he'd have to oblige. The oldest sister Meg (21) has dreams and visions about the world's near future. She's also very intuitive. Perhaps if she were better at seeing her own future maybe her personal life wouldn't be in shambles?

WARNING. Over 18's only. Contains depictions of rape and violence. Cadence was a typical young person, living life as expected, in the manner she'd been raised. Be a good person, work hard, see the positives, etc. Yeah, student life was stressful, but that was expected at university. Life was good, you just had to live it to its full potential. But all too soon, photography student Cadence McKenna, discovered the world around her wasn't as beautiful as it looked through her camera lens. A genetic condition had crept its way across the entire population, causing a global deficit. It allowed a frightening black market to bloom in the shadows. Men with no morals and deep pockets, no longer had to struggle to find a woman, there was place they could go where there were plenty to choose from. James Cooper was happy to sell the company of his women. Their babies fetched a high price too, in society's seedy underbelly. When Cadence uncovered the truth, it changed her outlook on life forever. Some things could never be undone. Could she bring justice down on those who needed it? But, do all of them truly deserve it? Is anyone really too far from redemption? Cadence holds her own key to a happy life. Maybe that key will unlock other doors too.
