Having to deal with neglect for the past four years of Solis's life finally has the chance to reconnect it would seem with his mother by going on a 2-month long cruise around the African continent.
At one point their trip goes wrong as the crew and passengers have to abandon the ship after it is struck by two icebergs and a heavy rainstorm. After the unspeakable happens, Solis soon realises what would happen to him. But what he doesn't know is that his life is about to get a lot more interesting as he meets and is rescued, in a sense, by a creature unlike any he has seen before.

On the island of Dumais, a baby was sent across the sea as her homeland was engulfed by war. A woman, rather a mother, traveled with the baby girl. The two sailed across stormy seas before landing on an island called Berk. This island is were the baby grew and found herself with mixed feelings for the dragon beast and for a certain boy, rather the Chiefs son.
