It's been weeks since Keefe left and what has Sophie accomplished? Absolutely nothing. She's been lying in her bed feeling sorry for herself, trying to make sense of the new and confusing emotions coursing through her. Then terrifying, life-changing information comes to light. Suddenly Sophie is swept up in a disastrous tangle of events, all while trying to fix her mistakes, find Keefe, and take down the Neverseen. But will she be able to do it? Or will her grief be too much to handle?
Keefe has been hiding. He's been moving throughout the Forbidden Cities, staying out of sight, dodging police, and most of all, trying to control his new ability. But just when Keefe thinks he's left the Lost Cities behind for good, a mysterious stranger shows up, claiming to know everything about him and even promising him answers to his past. Will Keefe be able to trust the stranger? Or is it all another scheme plotted by the Neverseen?

Beginning right after the latest Keepers book Unlocked, Sophie returns home to Find Grady suspiciously sad, but never in her mind could she have imagined why, finally she goes up stairs and reads Keefe's (heartbreaking) letter.
