Bucky Barnes is a well known and well loved character.

But let's put a twist on that.

Jamie Rebecca Barnes. Friends call her Becky.

She grew up with great parents and life was good. Winifred and George Barnes took good care of their children, even teaching their little girl how to shoot.

When Jamie was thirteen, she noticed a small, scrawny boy being harassed by a couple of boys. She had been in her fair share of fights, so she stepped in to save the boy.

The two became good friends. Steve Rogers was his name. And Becky stepped in quite a bit for the boy.

Tragically, in 1935, Jamie and her brother lost their father. Their mother had died a few years prior.

James, her brother, became a ward of the state. 18 as a young woman was too young to the government.

But in 1941, both of their lives changed forever. The Untied States was entering the war. Soldiers and nurses were needed and both of the young Americans wanted to fight.

They got their wish. But when a mission goes wrong, Jamie and Steve regretted it.

***

She couldn't remember anything. Only the machine that messed with her head and the man that told her what to do.

They were forged in war and fractured by the same hands that made them monsters. Katherine Zola was born with a name she never chose, the daughter of HYDRA's most notorious architect. A child genius, a living weapon, and the program's most effective ghost. Her mission logs were sealed in blood and buried in silence-until one day, she was given a name: Sergeant James Buchanan Barnes. She didn't know why HYDRA wanted him-not at first. Only that she was ordered to track, weaken, and retrieve him. That her mission began before his fall from the train in 1945. That she was the reason he ended up in enemy hands. And she did it. She followed orders. She delivered him. What she didn't expect was to care. What she didn't plan for was falling in love with the man she helped damn. Bucky Barnes thought he was just another casualty of HYDRA-another soldier stripped of self and turned into a weapon. But the truth was darker. His capture wasn't chance. It was chosen. He was targeted by a girl with smoke in her lungs, ghosts in her eyes, and a lie tucked in her smile. A girl who became everything to him, right before she disappeared. Decades later, they stand on opposite sides of the same war-both survivors of mind control, both drowning in guilt. And both still tethered to each other by a past neither can outrun. Because she was his mission long before he ever became hers. -Set during Captain America: The First Avenger, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, Thunderbolts -long book, buckle up for the ride. #1 in thewintersoldier 9.24.25 #1 in original character 9.23.25 #2 in jamesbarnes 9.24.25 #3 in samwilson 10.9.25 #6 in wintersoldier 9.24.25

After Steve finds Bucky on a park bench, his whole world seems to fit back into place and he couldn't be any happen. Until a small girl appears at SHIELD, her origin and family unknown. But she refuses to leave Steve, she chooses him. Then it's all turned upside down. The fear creeps back in as Bucky starts being threatened. Steve Rogers battles the need to protect the child who chose him or leave his old best friend to save her. Whatever Captain America chooses, someone will end up defending themselves alone. The consequences would be severe. * "For Gods sake Bucky, I love you but I won't let Kitty get hurt simply because I didn't take her away for a while." I argue. His eyes snap up when I say those special three words. I never thought I would say them. A single tear falls from his eye and trickles down his cheek. I'm about to reach up and wipe it away, like I always do, when he shakes his head at me. * Photo source:http://fiveocock.tumblr.com/post/83935612160
