In a world where power thrives and rules all, Eira Lexanthos' only weakness is that she wields none.
A fact that causes many to underestimate her, but after having grown up on an army base and raised by a General in King Torin's army, she has been forged into a near perfect warrior.

When the King of Novacante sends Eira off on a special mission inside enemy territory, she finds herself in a court where eyes can pierce sharper then swords and smiles are wielded as shields.
There is a trial being held for one special Mundane to be appointed the Prince of Arkanna's advisor, that is the position her King demands of her to protect her loved ones.
However this is the third year the trial has been held and all the mundanes before her have disappeared.

Surrounded by the royalty she was trained to kill, and those that wish to kill her, she must navigate the difference between a pretty face and pretty lies.
She finds men of the court testing her patience and her morals as the barrier between enemies and friends blur and hatred mingles with passion.
And there is a darkness that walks within the castle walls that Eira finds just as tempting and alluring as it is deadly.
Its when she's alone with this darkness that she begins to doubt her own thoughts and feelings and is faced with her greatest enemy; herself.

"May the gods have mercy on anyone that threatens the ones she loves." He says.

"Why?" The stranger asked with a puzzled face.

"Because she won't." And his smirk turned devilish.
