Mizuki Nagato is a young crime boss who runs one of the big 5 Yakuza crime families, his being the Zenjubo crime family. For the past two years he's been regretting his life as a crime boss and all the problems he's caused for himself and others. One day after a crime family meeting he gets ambushed by a couple of unknown assailants who end up killing him. After his death, he meets something called a Spirit who helps bring Mizuki back to life. In exchange for revival and the powers of the Spirit Harbinger of Shadow, Mizuki must atone for his Sins by being the one thing he hates, a hero.
