"I'm not saying history repeats itself, it's just that I'm pretty sure I learned about this in history class" When Bonaparte took control of France, he had the decency to try and take over the rest of Europe. The Romans tried to make the whole world a part of their Empire. The Portuguese stole land from their fellow Europeans by ignoring a treaty they formed. What I'm trying to say is, when a country becomes the big bad of the season, they try to take over the world. That's what happens, that's what they're supposed to do. So, why did The United Kingdom close itself off? Why did they decide to become a North Korea sized China? It doesn't matter, what matters is that Dalia only wanted to spend a normal vacation with her family while watching the Olympic Games in France. She didn't want to be captured by English terrorists. She certainly didn't want to be taken on one of those Slaveships that seems to be making a comeback. And she definitely didn't want to be forced to work in a sweatshop while only having the memories of her loved ones to keep her going. It's funny really, she was always the one making fun of the people trying to survive on those post-apocalyptic TV shows. Now she'll do whatever she has to come back to her family. One thing she did learn from all those stories, though: don't be a hero, just keep your head down and survive. "How'd you do on that test?" "It was a pop quiz, teacher cancelled it after the class found the answers on Quizlet."

Empire. At the end only Empire remains. No matter how many times you rebel Empire remains. No matter how many times you fight for your democratic Empire remains. Now bend for your emperorr. Welcome readers to my fantasy world. I have brought you something beyond the constraints of my imagination, and I wonder if many are ready for it; however, a good story must be told, and I am fortunate to be the one to tell it. Imagine a world where the vile nature of mankind creeps its ugly head as humanity faces its first and last major catastrophe. The world plunged into everlasting darkness, entrenched in chaos and disorder, where hope is a distant flitting memory. The story I propose to my fellow readers follows Anthony Verdun, who was only a boy when all he knew was taken from him in an instant. Like many others, on that day, those who survived lost a part of themselves, forever scarred by the family, friends, and loved ones they lost. Their lives changed forever; how could it not? I welcome you to join the world I have created, indulge in this hypothetical, and dive into this what-if. What that is, well, you would have to read to find out.
