When Bonaparte took control of France, he had the decency to try and take over the rest of Europe. The Romans tried to make the whole world a part of their Empire. The Portuguese stole land from their fellow Europeans by ignoring a treaty they formed.
What I'm trying to say is, when a country becomes the big bad of the season, they try to take over the world. That's what happens, that's what they're supposed to do.
So, why did The United Kingdom close itself off? Why did they decide to become a North Korea sized China?
It doesn't matter, what matters is that Dalia only wanted to spend a normal vacation with her family while watching the Olympic Games in France. She didn't want to be captured by English terrorists. She certainly didn't want to be taken on one of those Slaveships that seems to be making a comeback. And she definitely didn't want to be forced to work in a sweatshop while only having the memories of her loved ones to keep her going.
It's funny really, she was always the one making fun of the people trying to survive on those post-apocalyptic TV shows. Now she'll do whatever she has to come back to her family. One thing she did learn from all those stories, though: don't be a hero, just keep your head down and survive.

No one bothered themselves with the fact that the two countries were once one. Beauregia didn't change much. Their economical foundation was agriculture and cheap labor. Slavery was never banned and the kingdom was ruled under tight, Christian leadership. DURA on the other hand developed quickly, became based on new technology and democratic ideas. A global country, which housed the UN and was the international center of informative technologies and diplomacy. Only throughout the twentieth century were the disputes buried and a united front raised through first the World Wars and later on The Cold War. But now, eighteen years after the fall of the Berlin Wall and the fall of communism an international threat, the rift has once again grown deep between the two countries and open war is once more stirring beneath the surface. I even think of Luke as a hero, Jason as a good guy and Piper as smart and generous girl!) and my life goes beyond my bf. That being said, I should warn you that you won't find hate for Jason or such in here. I actually keep a list with my chapters so I can equally balance the same amount of POV between all of them(or try to). You'll find small amount of couple actions, but mostly, family interactions, friends, studies, jobs, pet, hobbies and some "me time" for the characters.
