Mariah takes action to ensure Tessa knows that she is ready to start their own next chapter together and she will not put anyone above her. Takes place after Mariah declines Abby's request to be her surrogate. Notes: This is a sequel to Declining the Request. I personally needed them to have certain conversations and acknowledge certain things in order to move forward in a meaningful way. This story diverts from canon because Mariah declines Abby's surrogacy request. However, it is written in a manner that if you just bypass the first few paragraphs, this story could be read to take place before, after, or instead of the surrogacy storyline. This couple deserves it all. They deserve their past to be acknowledged. Their growth to be referenced. There should be an understanding of how much these two flawed individuals have grown. How their love has healed them and will continue to heal them. How they make each other better versions of themselves and how they challenge each other. They deserve careers that fulfill them, friends, and family. They deserve to express their love and plan for their own future. Unfortunately, it does not seem like Y&R is prepared to do that for them. It is extremely saddening because these are two very dynamic characters played by two incredible actresses with chemistry that is off the charts. I find Tessa very fascinating as there is so much we don't know about her. I enjoy exploring the character as I see her. I know I spend a lot of time in her head. There is a bit of wish fulfillment going on here. The current storyline is so offensive. I cannot believe what the Y&R has done to Teriah. The consistent absence of Tessa is inexcusable. I would rather just pretend this was happening instead. Even just in fanfic, Teriah needs to move forward with their future. Tessa should be respected and appreciated by her life partner. Teriah deserves a happy ending and a next chapter that is truly their own. My objective was to give them that! All Rights Reserved
