~~~~~ 17th Century, Britain ~~~~~ Anemone Hottswell had a pretty decent upbringing. Her father was a merchant, and the Hottswells were part of the minuscule middle class of the Tudor era. Her mother was a nurse and seemed to be able to cure anything from a common cold to syphilis in only a matter of minutes. Anemone loved her parents very much and knew she was a lucky girl. A week before midsummer, however, Anemone discovers a secret her mother never wanted her to discover and seeks out the Coven of the Elements, the most feared witches throughout all of Britain. As Anemone learns more and more of her mother's secrets and hunts for the truth behind the Coven, she begins to comprehend why her mother did what she did, and why she took what she took. ~~~~~ isabelawrites
[Book 1] Twelve-year-old Skylar Sparks never wanted to be special. She was perfectly fine being a Non-Elemental, dreaming of a normal life in London-high school, university, and a future as a Zoologist. But when monstrous Nagas attack her city, everything changes. Skylar becomes the one thing she never expected, the one thing she grew up reading about, the one thing she hated: the Chosen One. Now, as the only Light Elemental in Stelarinia, she's thrown into a world where she's seen as an abomination. Tasked with finding the lost Relics, starting with the Fire Crown, she must navigate ruthless rivals, biased teachers, ancient prophecies, and dangerous creatures lurking in the shadows-all while barely understanding her own Element. With her twin brother by her side, unlikely friendships forming, and a strict Master who prefers whacking her with his staff over giving clear instructions, Skylar must figure out how to survive magical school, master her abilities, and stay alive until the Blue Moon Festival. But there's a problem- everyone expects her to fail. And in a world where being the Chosen One means being hunted, failure isn't an option.
