These were the words Brooklyn woke up to every single day. They were written on the blue wall opposite her bed in thick white paint, and she had been forbidden to cover the words with posters, photos or drawings.

It's not like the rules were necessary, though. They had been drilled into Brooke's ears ever since she was six, and she never dared to break them.

However, rules are made to be broken. If someone is constantly told what to do, what to wear, and who to be, it won't be long before they'll rebel.

They say curiosity can be a person's worst enemy, but in Brooke's case, it became her best friend.

Against The Current

16 Partes Concluida

Lily had always prided herself on being immune to the charm of her brother's friends-especially Jake. He was the worst of them: cocky, athletic, and always quick with a teasing smile. He was the kind of guy who drove girls crazy, but Lily swore she wasn't one of them. She couldn't be. Not with Jake. Yet, there he was, sitting on the couch across from her, laughing with her brother like he owned the place. And there she was, heart racing, heat creeping up her neck every time he flashed that grin in her direction. No, she told herself, this wasn't happening. It couldn't be happening. Jake was off-limits, a walking headache with dimples, and she was far too sensible to fall for someone like him. But every time their eyes met, it was getting harder to believe her own lie.
