The Hesi are walking solvents  -   they dissolve or scatter masses of a certain particle, leaving disorder in the chemistry of the world. And in themselves.

Tua is rewiring the nation of Ira-Du for both profit and the good of the downtrodden, using Hesi power and an obscure web of members. Wryn has secrets she cannot recall, and scars she doesn't want to. East wants his mind back. Daio is involved for the money, Ajan for the chase.
