It's strange to think how sometimes the smallest events have the largest effects on future generations.
How the choices of our predecessors still greatly effect our everyday life.
If Richard's paternal grandparents had never escaped from Poland to England, and his maternal grandparents hadn't have spent so much time in the workhouse, then he wouldn't be here. Their tragedy gave him the chance to live.
As a child abused by a failed government scheme. As a war hero. As a man who had lived in more countries than he had toes on his right foot.
He would live to make his ancestors proud.

I shall try and save the British Empire from its downfall. The British Empire shall essentially live on to modern day and beyond and not as an American influenced nation but as its own nation with its own sphere of influence. The choices we make in life can make or break us. However, some people make choices out of selfish reasons; not knowing their actions at the present time will have repercussions in the future. We are told not to worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow is not promised. That could be very well true. However, what if tomorrow is promised; how would you reexamine yesterday? What would you do differently today? How would you prepare for tomorrow? We are told to live for today, however, the question is-how many people live for "today?" If you are living for "today" at the end of the day, could you say you took care of all of your responsibilities? Each day has a purpose; each day creates a memory, and each day should be precious. Ask yourself-did you put your best foot forward? Or did you point fingers at everyone else instead of focusing on what you need to improve? Wildflowers In The Ruins: A 1917 Story
Completed fan fiction for the film 1917: This is the very first fan fiction I've ever attempted. Please be kind. I hope you like it. It features all of the main characters, several of the others, plus many I've created. Northern France, April 1917: A Voluntary Aid Detachment nurse is sent on an urgent mission across no-man's land accompanying two Lance Corporals, but she will have her own mission to fullfil also and be tested in ways she never deemed possible. Each chapter is named after a flower, relevant to the story, and that you can encounter growing in the wild, either in Britain or Northern France, with the exception of roses and Sweet William's. This story does contain spoilers from the film so it's really worth watching it first. Chapers two (from around halfway through) to eight I've taken directly from the film. The script is copyrighted to Sam Mendes and Krysty Wilson-Cairns, although I've worked from what's spoken in the film rather than off the script. I've taken inspiration from other films, television and books (fiction and non-fiction) set in the First World War too such as Forgotten Voices, The Roses Of No-Man's Land, War Horse, The Crimson Field, Private Peaceful, They Shall Not Grow Old, Testament Of Youth, Journey's End and Birdsong. I've also taken inspiration from the beautiful book A Song For Will which is based on the true story of the gardeners and labourers from the Heligan Estate in Cornwall. Every character who isn't featured in the film 1917 is fictitious and the names are entirely made-up, although every female character's Christian name in my story belongs to a female relative of mine who was alive at the time of the First World War, for example my four Great-grandmothers were Mary-Jane, Lavinia, Ada and Alice.
