After leaving her husband behind in New York, Carol Aird had no idea how she ended up in Northern California.
After jumping in the first flight available at the airport, she had found herself in Nevada, leasing a car and just started driving, throwing the map out of the window after the first two days.
She didn't need a map. She did not have a destination, so she just went wherever the next best road would take her.

If she ended up in the small villiage by fate or chance did not matter, when she arrived at a very busy motel. She did not expect so much hustle and bustle in such a small town, but when she picked up the newspaper a young boy dropped in front of her and read the headline it dawned to her. She had heard about the priest massacre on the radio.

Not having much in interest in staying for a longer time with all the fuss around her, Carol plans to leave again after a few day, driving somewhere peaceful.
Her plan gets busted when she runs into Mildred Ratched. Something about the strange woman immediately catches her interest and she starts feeling things that she did not expected to feel after what had happend with Harge and also with Abby.

But Monica McCaslin didn't think she would ever be one of those people, would ever have one of those moments. Brought up in a small suburb, with everything she could ever ask for, there wasn't much left for her to want. Monica's ordinary life was to go as such- follow her high school sweetheart to college, graduate, get married, have two kids; the cookie cutter life. White picket fence included. What she did not expect was to meet a dark-haired stranger sitting all alone on a park bench, at that very same school she was to attend with said future husband. After a brief conversation, just a handful of words between them, Monica decides to go on a cross-country road trip with him; putting her faith and future in the hands of a stranger. Thinking she'd soon regret her decision and the life she left behind, she realizes she doesn't at all. Free of expectation and a future that she thought was set in stone, she begins to find the woman she was truly meant to be. State by state, with each border they cross, Monica liberates her true self. π”Ήπ• π• π•œ βžƒ 𝕠𝕗 βžƒ - β„‚π• π•žπ•‘π•π•–π•₯𝕖 - ✬ ✫ ✬ ✫ ✬ ✫ ✬ ✫ ✬ ✫ ✬ ✫ ✬ ✫ ✬ ✫ ✬ ✫ ✬ This is a work of fiction. Power and money didn't really interest Serena, instead she wished for a life of peace and safety. Barely able to afford a bus pass, it was mere chance that she saw a man in handcuffs being escorted by police. And he saw her. Several groups wanted to control him to suit their own purposes, but he could not be controlled by force. He only wanted one thing - and it was her. I will be your heart, if you will be my shield. * * * Sneak Peek * * * I pitied the man, although with that many cops around him, he was likely quite dangerous. Who needed 30 police officers to supervise one guy who was likely in handcuffs and leg shackles? I absentmindedly watched the man walk down the gauntlet between the rows of officers. It was as if I couldn't look away. He paused and looked around. His brilliant glowing blue eyes seemed to meet mine across the vast distance. I couldn't even blink as his eyes seemed to hold mine. The trees of a park broke our locked gaze as the bus kept on driving. I took a deep breath, suddenly realizing that I had stopped breathing the moment our eyes had met. I had never seen such blue eyes before - and they glowed! A shiver ran through me. I had been too far away to even determine the color of the police officers' hair, let alone know the color of the man's eyes. My eyes watched the trees, hoping for a break in them so I could see the man again. I had no such luck. --------------------------------------------------- Please note that this story has nothing to do with any of my other stories. This is an action romance with my usual sci fi twists.
