"But, I thought we were supposed to be friends. Why would you tell me something like that?" Ashley questioned while fighting back the tears. 

"I guess we all think things. Sometimes we need to hear the truth from the people we care most in order to believe it." John sighed and continued walking towards the door. 

"Don't walk away from me John!" She screamed but he wouldn't turn around. She threw her shoe at his head. "This is different. They were coming back for me, they love me." 

"Ashley, I know how you feel. Being dumped by your parents. The people who are supposed to love and care for you. I know." He responded without turning around. 

"John you can't leave." She sighed. 

"I want to be alone." 

"No one wants to be alone John." Ashley stated and he continued out the door without saying another word.
