Certainly they could trust that those in power ultimately had the best interests of the people in mind, right? ~~~ Luna slouched low in her seat, staring at droplets of water that ran diagonally down the window of the bus. The sky was a flat, depressing grey and the incessant, soaking rain left her constantly chilled. It was a typical "liquid sunshine" day in the Pacific Northwest. They drove past a single tall scraggly tree on top of a hill shrouded in mist. The creepy tree was full of screaming crows. How could she hear them from inside the bus when she couldn't even seem to hear the voices of the kids around her? Geez, that was an awfully freaking dark image. She shivered and looked away. What did they call a group of crows again? Right, a murder of crows. Perfect. The weather was certainly the only thing that was typical these days, although you'd never know it by looking around the bus at most of the kids as they sat joking and gossiping with each other just like they had before... before that day everything had changed. Idiots.

All she wanted was to see the sunlight, but who knew that smelling fresh air could lead to such consequences. Why was her freedom taken from her before it was even given?

You never know what life will throw at you...one minute you're in the clouds and the next you're being hunted down. How did things get so complicated? I just want my life back is that so hard?

Six teenagers are stuck in Saturday detention and get to know each other more than they expected.

"So what are you in for?" "I lifted Vernon's hubcaps." "Why are you really here?" "Because this school isn't kind to people like me." Saturday detention, not an uncommon place for Ace Franco, though things certainly would change when a few uncommon people find themselves in the library along with her. Maybe they don't get along at first, and maybe they have their differences, but at the end of the day they may just find out that they're not too different. One detention will change everything for Ace, one detention will show her that she is not alone. {I speedran this fic in a matter of four days! I might spontaneously combust soon!}

The government took over completely but was quickly overrun by robots that they had created to enforce the newly created laws. As the robots continued to make more of themselves and become powerful, kids were mainly targeted as they were seen as bad to the mechanical monstrosity that was ruining the city. A teenager tried to keep most of the kids safe and hid them well, making sure they were safe with mothers and fathers who had already suffered losses of their own children being taken and enslaved. At the start of the government taking over, a group of people was forced out of the city due to their ignorance, according to the government that is. It became a comforting story to the scared kids that they'll come back and save them, told by the teenager who risks his life to save them. One day, the teenager that was saving the kids suddenly goes missing after a night.
