We find Felix Rook, transgendered man, formerly the top inspector for the Hale Central Police, on suspension and pending termination for an incident on his most recent case that left eight civilians dead. He’s three days from being shipped back to Earth when his former boss shows up at his door to ask a favor. A young son of a powerful executive has been kidnapped and the powers that be have decided to call in all officers, suspended or not, to assist in the investigation.
With the help of the boy's android nanny, Felix is determined to use his final three days on Mars to find the kidnappers and safely recover the boy.
