Charlotte promises that she has turned over a new leaf and is simply visiting the town before going off to college in the fall. But of course, Charlotte actually wants revenge, at any cost. Having been researching Mako Island in the year she's been gone, she is determined to regain her mermaid powers. When she discovers the moon pool is damaged (see season 3 finale), Charlotte makes an alliance with an old foe of the mermaids to regain her tail and defeat them. No mermaid would willingly do this, but when a dragon forms a connection with Rita it begins to take control of her. After all, she was top of the class. As the full moon grows closer the connection between them grows, and no one is sure how to stop it.
