It's the 1950s. Dixie got married straight out of high school to her older boyfriend, Griffin Johnson. They started dating when she was 16 and he was 19 and got married when she was 18 and he was 21. Everything seemed perfect in their marriage for the first 6 months. They were newly weds and had just moved in together. Until things weren't so perfect. After the first 6 months the marriage went south. Griffin had become abusive hitting Dixie once a day sometimes more, every day. Griffin had become physically, emotionally, and mentally abusive. He would make Dixie do things she didn't want to do but wouldn't say no because that was her husband. Dixie wanted to but couldn't divorce Griffin. She has no money, nowhere to go.
