Dora Hume is the governess in Rose's Abode, small and snug cottage in Cornwall. She earns money in order to live in her own, solitary world full of dreams and thoughts.  Every day brings her joy of decent work and anguish due to pining after her beloved, who decided to study at university in London. 
But shall the fantasy made up in one pretty mind find its way to reality?

He looked at me and touched the cheek very gently, but in his eyes I saw something that rendered my mouth speak:
- Will - said I, not sure why I had lifted my body.  - Will, now I know, that love is about what people do, not about what people feel. - words sounded unnatural. I think I stopped breathing.
He blinked few times and stood up. So did I.
- What... Are you trying to bid me goodbye? 
I was confused. I had no idea of what I was doing.
- Could I? - I exclaimed after some years as I presume. - Really could I?
