Amberlynn Esmè, Asian-American, 17, living on her own since her parents died. Working two jobs to support herself, plus doing her last year of High School. 

Living in New York City is hard, especially for a young 17 year old who just lost her parents about three months ago. Now add the Apocalypse, 10x harder!

When the world collapses around you and everything that was 'normal' decays, discerning reality is no longer an innate process, but rather a distorted sense of one's self. Reality was now something created on the basis of an individual's morality and a group's ability to coexist. However, when this was the way of living before the apocalypse, when this was how Christopher Peletier had to survive every day of his life- surviving based entirely on his step-fathers fragmented morality, what changed? What made now different from before? The answer is nothing. The world was exactly the same, and eighteen-year-old Chris had a plan. For his family, he separates himself from the truth. He knows he is more than what he was told, he knows what is, will not be forever. He knows he is strong enough to keep his loved ones safe, too. If he could just endure a little more so that, when the time came, he could take the opportunity granted to him to free himself, his mother, and his sister from their constraints. At the first chance he got, he was going to live by first destroying the part of his life that made his family quiet and miserable.
