Masked

Everybody says I'm a nice girl. I'm outgoing, careless, tomboyish and friendly to everyone. But they do not know what is really going on inside my head. You see, I put on this mask everyday. They all assume that I'm happy, but in the inside I am torn apart. Nobody knows about my insecurities, nobody but him.

Every night I watch her look at herself in the mirror, naked. I know, sounds creepy, right? I'm taking a shortcut to get into my uncle's house, but then I stop when I see her. She's beautiful. She has a nice athletic shape, pretty brown eyes, or I think it is brown from the distance between us, long auburn hair that stops at the bottom of her rib-cage. Wow, I thought. She starts crying and says words that I cannot hear, but I hear her next words clearly, "I hate myself!" she screams.

When I see her breakdown before me, my heart cringes. I don't know her, but I know that she is broken. I want to heal her, and I am willing to do anything.
