She went missing during a mission, and her fate remained unknown for several years. Eventually, she was discovered by Sakonji Urokodaki and Shinjuro Rengoku, gravely injured and on the verge of death. Before she died, Kagaya Ubuyashiki asked about her condition and what had happened. Shinjuro reported that the kakushi had noted that she had insisted that a specific individual should not be harmed before losing consciousness. Kagaya was puzzled until Shinjuro mentioned that the kakushi had found stretch marks on Mikoto's stomach, indicating that she had given birth. Just as they were about to learn more about her situation, one of the kakushi returned with a letter from Mikoto addressed to Kagaya Ubuyashiki.
In the pages they read, they discovered what had happened to her. Muzan had forced her to conceive a child who would be immune to sunlight. Not only did the plan succeed, but the child also survived. Kagaya and Shinjuro were shocked to learn that Muzan had a living son in the world. After reading more, they discovered where the child was. Mikoto left him on the doorstep of a family on Mount Kumotori, his name was Yamato Tsugikuni. Shinjuro suggests that they find and bring him back to the corps. Kagaya agreed but decided to watch and observe him before making a move first.
Meanwhile, Tanjuro and Kie Kamado were enjoying their day as they were taking care of Yamato, who was only an infant at this time. But over time he would grow up among the oldest of six siblings, after arriving home he met Kagaya Ubuyashiki and soon his life changed forever.
