If she had known taking his hand would tumble her into a world where everything she had been taught meant nothing she may have not done it so quickly. If she had known, her fate may have changed, reworked itself into something so completely different the version of her left at the end of this story would widen her eyes in horror.

If he had known, letting his palm open for her, that he would only be left with a constant reminder of his past, he may not have found himself giving in to her. If he had known she would etch her way into a part of him that hadn't beat for a very long time, the version of him that offered his hand would shudder and slink away.

Though neither would ever think, not for a moment, that it had been the wrong decision to make.
