Every morning, George wakes and calls for his beloved Charlotte. Every morning, his servants exchange worried glances as they gently redirect their Sovereign to breakfast, carefully setting two places at the table. Something is terribly wrong at Windsor Castle, but the King cannot-or will not-see it. In his fractured mind, Charlotte is everywhere: tending roses in their garden, playing piano in the drawing room, dancing in his arms at evening court. His devoted household maintains an elaborate charade, protecting their King from a truth he may not survive. But as George's grip on reality weakens and his desperate need for Charlotte intensifies, the careful fiction begins to crumble. When the servants can no longer maintain their protective deception, a broken King must face whatever truth awaits. Some loves are too powerful to end. Some truths are too devastating to face.
