When the Oni attacked the monastery, one of them hit Lloyd with a memory spell, but because of his oni blood, the spell didn't take effect until after the tornado of creation exploded on them. Garmadon was the first to find him, and before the Ninja woke up, he took Lloyd with him.
BTW, this is a series that'll probably turn into 5 books.
