nera blackwell was the sun and james barnes was the moon, there was no denying that - she was the stars to his dark sky and he was the shadow that came from the glow of the sky. yin and yang, light and dark. nera was a skilled, specialist agent of shield and close friend of the avengers but she was ignorant to the plagues of the world for she had lost no family, no friends, she hadn't ever received a fail and no matter how much slaughter she saw, how many criminals and villains she stopped - she only ever saw the world as a place of hope and life but she was wrong. james had lost everything, a man out of his time, everyone he had ever loved were long dead, head filled with trauma and pain, heart filled with guilt and a gut full of sorrow. he's broken, too familiar with the heartbreak and devastation that comes hand in hand with life. polar opposites meet and for the first time nera is without hope and james finds a reason to live.

afterall the only thing certain in life is death.
