The Imaginary Friend

When Justine Black's mother dies at childbirth and her father is killed when she is six, she is left alone in an orphanage with no one who could possibly understand her. She spats on the world for two years until a stranger encounters her - a man named Garrett who claims to be her imaginary friend. He knows every secret and story Justine has, and Justine has finally found someone who can wipe away her hatred and denial so she can lead the happiest, most normal life she can. However, when she is finally adopted at the age of eleven, Garrett must leave her since "his job is finally done." To Justine, Garrett is just another man who died in her past. That is, until he shows back up on the day she gets engaged twelve years later. This time, though, everyone can see him, not only Justine. And something is threatening to emerge that might cost the lives of Justine Black and all who she holds dear - even Garrett.
