When shy 13-year-old Nate discovers he can communicate with animals it opens up a whole new world of adventure and exploration for him. But when animals start disappearing from the suburban forest and a mysterious masked man starts appearing at his window, it is up to Nate and his trusty golden retriever Basset to unravel the clues and get to the bottom of the mystery. During their investigation, Nate and Basset team up with a quirky assortment of neighborhood animals, including an overweight gossiping cat, a compulsive-liar weasel, and an acrobatic bullfrog. The pair also has to deal with school bullies, making friends in a new town, and parents who aren’t really paying attention – until they’re kidnapped, that is.
