"Hurry up and get the plates, Yezhil!" Her mother called from the kitchen.
"Coming Amma!" She yelled back, from the balcony sink.
Javed uncle was downstairs, lighting a lamp on the compound wall.
"Happy Diwali uncle!" she called cheerfully.
He glanced up as the lamp caught fire and ran into the building, covering his ears and screamed, "Happy Diwaliiiii!"
'Huh! How wierd!' she thought, frowning as she gazed at the sparkling red flame, ' Not to mention, rude! I expect he's afraid of this pretty red fire. How sad and stupid, thou-'
BAMM!!!
The jolting shock sent tears running down her face and her running inside the house, "Ammaaaaa!"
