"I'm coming!" I jog to the front door and yank it open only to find nobody there. I look around to see if I can spot someone hiding but get no luck. I glance down to see a folded piece of paper on the door mat.
Why the hell would someone do that? I think while reaching for the mysterious piece of paper. On top it has a paw print and below the paw were what looks like an ancient language. I unfold it to find more of the strange markings around regular words.

We held our breath as we heard footsteps enter the dark room. My heart raced and I covered my mouth to keep from screaming as tears ran down my cheeks.
