It's been two years since Elle and Emmett got married, and they still live in Washington, DC. Elle has switched jobs and is now a successful prosecutor, while Emmett is an attorney representing a major corporation. They are still madly in love and their marriage is great, so they are both overjoyed when Elle becomes pregnant. As they prepare for the birth of their first child, Elle has to deal with sexism from her family and colleagues, so she and Emmett decide to challenge traditional parenting stereotypes, catching the attention of the political community in Washington and sparking debates about some controversial issues.
