For as long as I could remember (All 17 years of my life) I, James Solmaxton (but you can call me Solmax) have felt different from everybody else here in this small town of Galaxy View. A genome defect has afflicted the majority of the population and scientists are desperate to find a cure. In the meantime, man has found his own salvation in the form of the QUBIT (quantum processing bio-synthetic), an android that is capable of prolonging life almost indefinitely, and yet what makes them human in the first place has been lost in the transition. The ruling council believes that salvation is nigh, but whether that hope arrives in time is questionable. The city's future depends upon the actions of a few individuals, all of whom are struggling with their own mortality. Quentin is the boy who dreams of death. Mia is the tortured soul. Trey is the soldier that defines duty. Misao is the future of the ruling council. Claire is the girl with a secret that will rock the foundations of their entire civilization. Everyone was evacuated from the home planet over 150 years ago. Our planet was dying, it was only a matter of time before our race was wiped out. We now live on a synthetic planet designed and built by our ancestors who came together from all parts of the globe to devise a plan to save us. We have lived peacefully for over a century.. Until now. Our lives were threatened when a mysterious and deadly virus broke out, killing entire communities at a time. The council says that they have a plan; they said that in order to prevent the death of more innocent people they will test every man, woman, and child for signs of the virus. Any person found to have been infected will be quarantined, the ones who die will be given a proper burial while the ones who survive are deemed carriers and are to be sent to the home planet to prevent further outbreak. I was prepared for the people I know and some I love being taken away for the greater good, but I never would have expected that among the list of people being taken from my community, that I would be one of them.. I survived the quarantine. Now for the survival of my planet I, and the other Carriers must be sent to the home planet. I'm going back to Earth. The year was 2098. I was a spacecraft and jet pilot during an era of relative peace. No robotic apocalypses, no zombie outbreaks, no meteor showers-nothing of the sort. Humanity had even established a presence on Mars. Yet, beneath this calm, a sinister force was thriving on the Red Planet. Whispers of a terrorist organization began circulating, hidden within the colonies. Now, they have completely seized Mars for their own dark motives. This group, The Mars Philanthropics (MP), had a name steeped in irony. They claimed to be "lovers of mankind," but in reality, they were far from benevolent. Their so-called charitable mission concealed a darker agenda. I wasn't a member of the military. Instead, I led my own organization-TAF (Terrorist Annihilator Force). Though small in size, we boasted the most seasoned and capable operatives. When the government realized the extent of MP's influence, they turned to us for help. This wasn't just another mission-it was a call to action against the most pervasive terrorist group in history. I'm regarded as the best spacecraft pilot, but this mission will challenge everything I've ever known. But now I face a choice more difficult than any before: let my friends-who are like a family for me-die or kill a family member who is nothing more than a stranger to me. Will I complete the mission? Well, in their quest for scientific breakthroughs, our brilliant, overachieving ancestors unknowingly rewrote the entire genetic playbook for our bloodline-long before I was even conceived. By running experiments on themselves, they inadvertently spliced and hardcoded their DNA with something not even they fully understood. The result? Earl Williams the 28th. Born with a delightful grab bag of 5th-dimensional (5D) abilities, including, but not limited to, immortality. And I know what you're thinking. 'Wow! Immortality? That's incredible!' Well, let's see if you feel the same way after falling in love with your soulmate, watching them grow old and die, while you just keep on, existing. Turns out, eternal youth isn't all it's cracked up to be. In fact, it can be less of a gift, and more of a life sentence. Just after Earl's 400th birthday he discovered his 5th dimensional abilities could take him pretty far; literally. As in intergalactic travel. Over time he met other interdimensional beings. Such as Draco, a powerful 4D being who motioned for the ICU to immediately annihilate all of humanity, in order to give Earth time to rebuild its natural resources. Initially, the Intergalactic Chamber of the Universe granted Draco permission to follow through with his murderous plan. However, Earl stepped in and pleaded for humanity's relocation instead of their annihilation. You see Earl himself was earth born. Only as a teenager, did he discover his 5D abilities. He saw the progress humanity had been making. He knew they had learned from their past environmental failures. In his opinion, the people of Earth didn't have to die. All they needed was a new start on a different planet.Complete
Xalune - Echoes from the past
In a dystopian world, where the strongest prevails, having peace is a luxury. Especially when someone from the past is out to destroy everything we have built up over the past 15 years. And with Christmas approaching, our group get to face ten hellish days. Preview: In his fury, the chains have rubbed his wrists and neck raw, despite me trying to calm him down. He suddenly calms down when the screams in the cell next to us switch to the sound of bones breaking. Now he sits with foam on his lips and his eyes wide, looking that way. After ten minutes, the sounds of the boys in our cell have died down, and we all look at the wall that separates us from the crackling of the breaking bones. And then suddenly all is quiet. After a few silent minutes, our cell door opens slowly. From the ball of light from the ceiling, the little girl in the doorway is illuminated. She is completely covered in blood and doesn't move. Then she opens her eyes and carefully walks towards us. And despite everything, my first impulse is to crawl backwards, away from the unnatural calm radiating from her. ------------- After reading yet another great older brothers/younger sister story, where the family gets reunited after years of separation, the sister keeps the secret that she was abused and assaulted all along, and the brothers conceal their work in the mafia, I decided to give it also a try. The output of my story was initially to turn this around with openness and unconditional support and the torture should happen right in front of their very eyes. Because no story is complete without the (un)necessary bloodshed, action, humour and, of course, a bad guy. And who knows, to throw everything completely upside down, the main character may not survive. I won't write warnings above each chapter, because most of them contain violence, blood, torture, etc. Constructive criticism is welcome. Ow, and English is not my first, second or third language. So if I mess up somewhere, let me know!
