It was supposed to be a quick mission. The only thing quick about it was how rapidly I failed. With only a month left to earn her missing feathers, twenty-year-old Leigh embarks on a trip to Paris to meet her newest project, twenty-five-year-old Jarod Adler, leader of the Parisian Mafia and the worst kind of sinner . . . a Triple. If Leigh can get Jarod to accomplish a single act of kindness, she stands to win 100 feathers, more than enough to complete her wings and ascend to Elysium, the land of angels. What she doesn't count on is Jarod's dark charm costing her feathers. She's dead set on saving him, and he's dead set on destroying her. Until he realizes destroying her wings is also destroying her heart. A heart he longs to hear beat only for him. A modern ROMEO & JULIET retelling featuring an epic sinner and the angel who'll stop at nothing to save him. Perfect for fans of NALINI SINGH and BECCA FITZPATRICK.

The bright ball of blue, green, gold and white twinkled with radiant glimmers along its surface. Suspended in the void of pure darkness, pitched against the twinkle of faint silver stars, the it was almost beautiful from this distance. Ages ago, Turivel had visited this world and the scars it left on her never faded. Pains in her chest threatened to destroy her calm composed face. "You don't have to go, I can do this alone," said a male voice, cutting through her thoughts. Turivel blinked, bringing herself back to the present. Her steely eyes turned to look at him, her lips curled in a half smile, "Do you really think I am foolish enough to trust you with something this important?" He crossed his arms. The pair stood suspended in the void of space not far from the planet before them. Against the darkness behind him the man's face had twisted into a disapproving scowl, "I know you call me the Evangelist for a reason. And I know that you will pay me for my trouble," his dark brown hair curled around him in the void, covering half his face and his dark eyes, "And that is enough for me. But most importantly, I know that your head is too clouded by this planet for you to act clearly down there." Turivel sighed, relenting, "Alright, go. Bring her back. But be careful, be subtle. And remember the importance of who you bring to me." "I always do," he said over his shoulder. A blue circle of light appeared around the edges of his shape and he slowly faded from existence. Turivel let her guard down, her shoulders slumped slightly now that she was alone. Wisps of her golden hair fell around her face as she allowed herself a moment to just feel the worry and stress of it all. All of life and death hung in the balance now, and all she could do was pray he made it.
