The annual Masquerade Ball of Unity has been labeled the event of the year for centuries. A way for the 16-year-olds of Norvinia to get a night full of dancing, delicious food, and gorgeous gowns free of any charge. There are only 4 rules:
1. Every eligible teen must attend.
2. No entrance to the ball past 6:15
3. No leaving until 12:00, no exceptions.
and 4. Masks stay on.

Teens everywhere spend weeks trying to find the perfect dress and mask for a once-in-a-lifetime event.

But for Esmé Grace, a girl who has recently lost her father, she would rather do anything else. Her expectations for the night consist of hiding in a corner, and counting the seconds until she can leave.
But after she discovers the sinister meaning behind the ball, Esmé finds herself caught in a war between doing what she knows is right or giving in to the fear that has plagued her decisions for as long as she remembers.

Masks Off is a story full of betrayal, romance, and adventure.

* * * "...Why are you following me?" I only muttered in case no one was really there. I didn't want any surrounding people to think I was crazy and just imagining someone behind me. "I didn't even get a thank you." To my surprise, there was a response. Slightly horrified, I spun around to look my rescuer in the eyes. Scratch that. In the mask. He was wearing a mask. * * * Saved from a rapist by a pirate. At first, Vivienne sees pirates as scums. She believes all of them are full of greed. Well, Vivienne isn't completely wrong. But when she accidentally boards a pirate ship belonging to the Masquerade Messes, her entire life takes a turn. Perhaps for the better, perhaps for the worse... either way, Vivienne occupies her time by trying to identify her rescuer. He's a part of the crew, but the only time he appears is during the masquerade parties. She tries to figure out who he is, but she struggles badly. He's just always masked. * * * //completed as of 12/15/16//
