The elder, raised the moon to bring the beautiful night while the youngest, raised the sun to bring the day. Over the many years, the youngest sister grew resentful, as ponies admired the moon and stars. One day, the youngest sister refused to lower the sun to make way for the moon. The eldest sister, tried to reason with her, but the youngest refused to listen. Bitterness in her heart, the youngest sister turned into a devilish mare, Day Breaker, she vowed that she would shroud the land in eternal burning day. 

Reluctantly, the eldest sister harness the most powerful magic to pony lands, The Elements of Harmony. Using the magic of the Elements of Harmony, she defeated her younger sister, and banished her permanently in the moon.
