Mettaton is the sole star of the Underground, loved and admired by all of the monsters. No one knows exactly where he came from, but most believe the story that Alphys simply made him one day, programming him entirely for entertainment. Mettaton brings smiles to everyone's faces with his show, and his glamour, grandiosity, and confidence inspire everyone. He has fame, money, and admiration... everything he's ever wanted. And yet, the show Mettaton puts on is just that: a show... and nothing is as it seems. It will take a special skeleton to get to know Mettaton behind the scenes.
CONTENT WARNINGS: Graphic descriptions of anxiety, depression, self-harm, and a suicide attempt. If you don't feel comfortable reading about those things, I'd highly suggest not reading this story. Please stay safe and take care of yourself!

Sans the skeleton is a resident of Snowdin in the Underground, and life as he knows is mostly alright. He had his optimistic, egotistical brother, Papyrus, his mysterious friend in the RUINs, Grillby, the bartender at his favorite place to stay, and many other buddies and acquaintances he'd made over time. But one day, when the friend from the RUINs makes a strange request of Sans, he couldn't help but give her his word and make a promise. However... When he sees the subject of his promise exit the RUINs- A strange, wayward, dust-covered human- Sans questioned whether he'd be able to stay true to his word. Underlust: Papyton - His Prince
In Underlust, where almost every monster is hypersexual due to being injected with lust in order to increase the monster population, Mettaton is an outsider. As a ghost, he was not injected with the lust substance, and as a result, he is completely different from everyone else in the Underground. He feels out of place as an anxious bookworm who has little interest in sex and is losing hope because his quiz show is unsuccessful. But Mettaton might not be as alone as he thinks. A certain skeleton loves Mettaton's show and wonders if anyone in the Underground shares his rare capacity to prioritize love over sex. UNDERLUST DISCLAIMER: I think it's important to acknowledge that there are some problematic things about Underlust and that I absolutely do not condone those aspects of the AU. However, Mettaton's story in Underlust is important to me, so any senseless hatred of him or of the AU is not appreciated.
