"I can't be the guy I need to be for you. Maybe I should save both of our feelings and just end it here," I muttered looking out of the window to the busy streets of the city.

 A pang of guilt hit me as I noticed tears threatening to fall down her cheeks. 

"Is that what you want?" She whispered?

My eyes bore into hers. "Of course not. But I can't be the man that you need me to be?"

"Did those words come out of my mouth Maddox? You are the man I WANT you to be," she replied grabbing my face so I could look her directly into her eyes.

Maddox is an 23 year old guy who has let all of his frustrations get the best of him. He isn't like every other young adult. Just someone that needs a little extra help. The only thing that would truly make him happy is finding his person, and being able to walk.

Turns out his person is just the girl next door, who happens to be his best friend Laylani. The two were inseparable, but they've sort of lost connection when she started her illustrious modeling career. 

Laylani was Maddox's bestfriend. She's also 23 and considered to be Maddox's rock even though he'd never admit it. With her demanding career while she notice that the guy she was looking for was right in front of her despite her many failed relationships?

"Who are you?" I asked, still left in the shock and scared state that came over me when gunshots were heard. I look up to his face which was hidden behind a dark shadow and bit my lips as silence fell between us. "Who I am is none of your business," he said in a cold, husky voice that somehow caused me to shiver.
