Nobody expected it to happen. The government didn't, the army didn't, the scientists, the doctors – it took the people by surprise. First, it was just a few cases, but ever since, the majority of the population is either dead or turned. Ever since her parents left her on the highway, Josephine was wandering through the states, taking everything she needed from houses, stores, cars. She never met any people, until one day she runs into an intimidating man, offering her a place to stay for over the night. Feeling insecure, she's giving in. It's the best she could do, right? Following the group for a few miles, she learns that being in with people together is the best option to survive. As Josephine starts to warm up, her misery fades away, slowly.
Being a loner these days is not recommended. - That's Carl's favourite line, whenever he feels like Josephine wants to leave. Yet Rick and Carol figured out that the girl is important for Carl, and the day she'll leave or die is the day where Carl won't be dead or alive, resulting from his desperation to find out who she really is. And right after they seem to find hope in a dangerous world, a family reunites and a difficult decision is to be made.
[As this is a fanfiction and I stopped at midseason 5 - winter break and all - I put the story at a random place. Different relations between the characters might be present. Characters from the series/comics are: Rick, Carl, Judith, Daryl, Glenn, Maggie, Carol, Michonne, Tyreese, Sasha, Noah, Rositha, Tara and Abraham. Please don't comment about missing characters or subjects or anything like that as this here is a FANFICTION]

She was slipping, falling, plummeting into the darkness with nobody to catch her. Nobody to hold that net. She didn't have a light to her shadows. She was shattering into a million pieces that couldn't be put back together. She was alone. She was broken.
She would be forever broken.

In a world ruled by the dead, people are forced to finally start living.
A newfound safety seemed the perfect finish to their story, a happiness that they would not allow to be ripped from their grasp. No. They would fight for eachother, for what they had. Nobody could break them before and nobody ever would.
But they are not alone.
Others will always want what they have, to take, to steal; For greed, for selfishness, for survival. The world lives by the words 'them or us'. They would have to defend their home with their lives, fight alongside eachother and they would prevail. Surely noone could take them down now.
No matter what, someone will always be stronger.
No matter what, they can easily become outnumbered.
• She felt like it was finally the time she embraced her inner demon •
