The ornate doors behind me slammed open with a controlled ferocity, and not an bit of my body was left untouched by its menace. An icy spear encased my spine in an emotion I knew too well. I could feel this person's prescience ebbing with energy behind me.
This was way beyond my pay-grade. Let alone I wasn't even getting payed for this.
My head whipped to my right and my eyes thinned at the sudden flood of light. A hulking shadow stood in the center of the grand doorway-that should still be shut. A massive hand gripped the mahogany planks with splintering strength.
