As a dangerous plague spreads through the valleys of Alamon, King Luvere and Queen Narita have kept their daughter locked in a tower to avoid her from introducing her to the plague. The plague has spread rapidly throughout the kingdom, and has already claimed the lives of many victims.

Rafferty Altman is on the opposite side of the line. As a soldier of the 1st Infantry, Rafferty's job is to take care of anyone who has the plague. Rafferty has grown up in the ways of his father, and soon is about to take 1st General in Command.

But when two different people cross paths, a journey of a lifetime is about to begin, and the only people that can save them from the plague is themselves.

A new disease, the Black Plague, is ravaging the inhabitants of Valis. Children are forced to get vaccinated, but it turns out to be a lie. It's an experiment. A serum that seeps through your veins and gives you enhanced powers. But many die from this serum as well. Maeve is one of the people with Emoric powers and is brutally abducted from her home. She crosses paths with a boy who has done something terrible to her, and it turns out she is now bound to him. The fight for Maeve's life has begun. Why? She is the key to everything. To both good and evil. [improved, newly written English version of the Dutch original- i strongly recommend reading this instead!]
